Why are people on multiple races forced to pick one?/?

It's so annoying. i love everything in my heritage. What's up with that question 'what are you?' I'm HUMAN!!! what sre YOU?? It makes me so so so sad feeling like im being backed in a corner and forced to pick one race. it's not fair.not to me and not to my family. And i hate that part of my family thinks i have 'good hair' and other parts think i have 'thick hair. it's just hair people. Thanks for reading i needed to vent.

I am bi-racial and I feel your pain. I have learned not to pick a side anymore. I love my curly hair (I wear it natural now--no more relaxers) and I don't tan (I'm fair skinned). I play up my best assets and hang with whoever I am most comfortable with, instead of choosing a "set". I listen to R%26amp;B and rock, jazz and new age. Whatever I like, not what others think I should. I am more confident now and happier with myself than I have ever been. I still choose Black on my forms though, I don't like mixed or "other".

You be you. :)

In your case, I think any answer you pick will be the right one. It's your choice what race you belong to.

My boyfriend is the same way. His mom was mexican and indian and his dad was half black and half white so what do you put as race for that? He hates that question too.
