NIVEA - ANTI CELLULITE?? ye/ ne?

I turned on the t.v after a long day of work (9 am) only to see a commercial for a nivea product promoting the reduction of cellulite. Personally this was ofensive to me as a human being. Men are suppose to lok like men and woman like woman, whay are there all these products out there trying to decrease the chracteristics that make women look like women? saying that a female shouldnt hve cellulite is like saying males shouldmnt gve facial hair (more extreme catually)

why do women fal into thses products? do they not see that it is actually saying that a woman in general is not good enough.. why allow the aspiration of such un-natural beauty ?

What happened to humans being human?

I agree. Sadly, this is the way our society has been shaped. Maybe women should stop shaving their legs too.

I really like your outlook. I hope you keep that posivitity in your life. As to the answer to your question, I believe it is all media. People "HAVE" to look like the people on t.v.

You are so right.

Point taken.

Its clear that advertisers market to women's concern and make a trait seem like a weakness to be stamped out to be the perfect woman.

More money for them, less satisfaction for the consumer.

Um. Cellulite just really isn't that healthy to have, whether you're a man or woman or dog or koala or flowering plant. If you're a bear or whale, it's OK. (Koalas are not bears.)

You're right that the advertising is a load of crap, but not for the reasons you just gave. It's crap because (1) Nivea probably does NOT REDUCE cellulite; (2) it plays on women's fears that they will be undesirable and less lovable if they are old, "ugly," or out of shape; (3) it assumes that normal women are supposed to want to spend their time "beautifying" themselves for others to look at.

You also assume when you say that "women are supposed to have cellulite" that there's a certain decided-upon way that all "men" and all "women" should look. It may be natural for a woman to have cellulite, but having cellulite is not what makes a woman a woman. Having long hair and boobs is not even what makes a woman a woman.

Well cellulite is not a positive thing and both men and women get it. It defines nothing. Smooth skin is quite desirable. You may like the cottege cheese look, but most don't. Sure, it'd be great if we could look like fat slobs with hair all over our bodies and still be attractive, but it's just not true.

We get hair cuts, take showers/baths, shave, trim, workout, eat healthy and who knows what else to be attractive to people and to simply look good for ourselves. Why not have beauty products?

I appreciate your outlook, but woman are constantly being made to feel that cosmetic complaints such as excess body hair, cellulite, stretchmarks, etc, are unnattractive and unnacceptable. The issue is that cellulite and stretchmarks in particular, are prevelant in the majority of women and are very difficult to eradicate.

There is not a chance that a cheap moisturizing lotion will be able to remove cellulite, it may just give the skin a more smooth appearance due to the added moisturize, but this will be a very short lived effect.

The only proven treatments to treat cellulite are very expensive lympathic drainage treatments and injections of small amounts of vitmains into the connective tissues to strengthen them and prevent the fatty deposits from bulging through unevenly.

HTH : )

well...Cellulite isn't part of women's characteristics, it's a side effect of many things, one being yo yo dieting. Facial hair that you mentioned for men, well all men have it right? not every woman has cellulite....Also no one can decide whether a human is good enough or not, especially by mere use of any product..... I suggest you do some research on Cellulite buddy
