Are gym pools safe?

I go to 24 Hour Fitness in San Francisco and my goodness does it seem like the pool is a festering zone for old, hairy, white men in speedos. :[ I hope I didn't just offend anyone, but if you live in the city and know what I am talking about then you would understand. My question is if the pool has germs in it. Can you get athletes foot [or other weird infections] from the water; and is there human particles throughout the pool; such as hair, nails, and YUCK snot? I just want to swim laps and laps, but fear the depths of 24 Hour Fitness pool!

I wouldn't trust any pools that I've been in cause when I need to go, I go. Be it number 1 or 2.

Are gym pools safe?

Im not gonna give you a definite answer on this one... cause I dont know if there are any weird things you can get... but usually they pump those pools so full of chlorine that even small animals would be able to survive.... Germs-be-gone.

I wouldnt worry.

Haha, totally gross! If it's warm and theres a sign that says "not heated" RUN! As for most things PUBLIC I think you take your chances but they should put enough chemicals in that thing to burn out the nastyness!

Are gym pools safe?

well...what do you mean?

Are gym pools safe?

The pool is safe. It's treated with lots of chlorine, which will kill any bacteria there. Just wear sandals on your way to the pool, and take a soap shower in the locker room afterward. Try not to think about the old men while swimming!

If pools were that dangerous, I would have all kinds of diseases by now.
