Micro Braids?

I have long thick hair. i'm getting micros, but should i just use my own hair or not? if i can use my hair, im worried that it wont last as long and it will be moore damaged. if not, should i use synthetic or human? also how do i treat my hair b4 getting the braids?

Micro Braids?

It guess it depends how long your hair is. I have shoulder length hair. I prefer to use extensions with human hair. Human and synthetic hair have different pros and cons. Sythetic hair is definatly more durable than human hair. If it rains and your hair gets wet it won't frizz. Synthetic is ofcourse a lot cheaper than human hair. Human hair I think looks alot more natural than synthetic hair. You can play around more with human hair as far as styling goes. You can curl it crimp it and straighten it. Before getting braids, if you relax your hair, dont get a touch up before braiding. Its better if you have some new growth. Wash and condition your hair and blow dry it. Let the braider do the rest. Hope this helps.

Micro Braids?

Hi. From what I remember, the only people who get micros are people who have short hair. I've never heard of people like yourself who have long thick hair getting micros. In addtion, micros are very small braids that have almost always damaged your hairline. I think you should really do your homework before you decide to get micros. I've personally known and seen many people with micros that have regretted doing so. But its definitely your choice despite my take on it.

You should go for medium braids, which will be cheaper and not harm your hair. There is a website called www.growafrohairlong.com which has a great braid regimen, one of the best that I've seen yet. The only difference between synthetic and human is that synthetic cant really curl but human hair can. Since your hair is thick, you should try getting your natural hair braided, especially since you have alot of hair to work with. Find a good hairstylist that wont braid tight and will take constructive criticism. If you dont like something and you tell them and they get upset, get away and leave! Ive had this personally happen to me and they took their anger out on my hair and tried to cover it up.

You should deep condition weekly with heat every week for up to 4 weeks before braiding your hair. Braids are usually meant to stay in long, at least for up to 2 months, but take them out after a month. I find that if you deep condition 4 weeks, braid, leave for 4 weeks, and condition again, you will be totally consistant. Hope this helps. God bless.
