I am not trying to start an internet argument, but everywhere i look i hear an African being compared to an ape. Historically it has been taught that white is the more attractive human being while broad noses and lips are the least desired. Melan is a rich substance that protects against the sun and gives us the beautiful black complexion. "Nappy" hair is also a substance that plays a protective role against lice. Apes have straight hair.

Unfortunately, some rather uneducated, closed minded people do think that. Me personally, nope. Not at all. As I learned in sunday school - red and yellow, black and white, all are precious in his sight.

Personally, I would never compare anyone to an ape, except my brother (hehe). The only thing I see different between black and white people is their skin, but I don't think that matters at all, because I have practically paper white skin. That doesn't mean I look like a polar bear. I think Africans can look just as beautiful or even more beautiful than white folks. If we all looked the same, life would be boring

I find Africans really cool actually. Most Africans I know have great complexion and perfect teeth! You look like gods and goddesses :)

I don't think that at all. I have read that back when the slave trade was very popular, the slave traders used to show advertisments that portrayed Africans as ape-like. I think this was a way to make people think that Africans were not like whites, that they were sub-human, and so it didn't matter if they were used as slaves. I guess this idea hasn't died yet, which is very sad. Africans look like everyone else, human.
