Humans are still one species?

a species of animals that went through geographical isolation can become 2 species. I thot that humans all decended from africa and now we have so many different races. But shouldnt we be classified into different species, because ever race has different gene pool? ie: skin+hair types, immunities, black people dominate sports....i thot that's what speciation was about.

Humans are still one species?

No, humanity is a single species because interracial breeding is no problem. When divergent branches can no longer interbreed they become different species.

Humans are still one species?

We are still the same species although we may have a different blend of genes. You get a split in species when cross-breeding is no longer able to produce fertile offspring. And this is not yet the case.

Humans are still one species?

racial specifications have nothing to with the classification of a species. if people one day evolve and carry a gene so different that it gives you, for example, wings, then you would be considered a different species: mutant. there is much information of this topic in the x-men series, since people think that mutants believe they are the next step in evolution.

Humans are still one species?

they can still interbreed naturally

Humans are still one species?

If an alien was to come to earth and look at all human life on Earth, they would be able to tell straight away that we all belong to the same species....why?? We look the same, we can breed and have fertile offspring.

As humans we are used to how we look and when we meet people we tend to look at the differences.....

If we saw a heard of cattle for the first time, we would say they look pretty much the same, but once you see them every day etc you would start to see the differences as you became more familar to them.

If you live in a predominately white/euorpean community, then other people who are black or asian would tend to look the same, as you are used to looking at the features of european people, but if you lived in Japan for a few years, you would then pick up on the differences.

Like in ANY species, there are regional differences, but there is not enough genetic differences as well as reproductive diffrerences to call them a different species....humans have populations all over the world, but geneitcally there is little difference between us all and as we breed like rabbits there is no problem with being called a different species.

Humans are still one species?

Speciation is about those changes becoming so great that individuals from the different populations can't or won't produce fertile offspring.

We're still one species.
