What would be more dominant if we had a baby?

I know only God can predict this, and different things happen to different human beings. I am just curious on what is the more dominant gene, what would be more likely for my child to look like. I am more Irish and have dirty blonde hair and blue eyes (my hair got darker but is still a light brown). My boyfriend is Italian and has dark brown hair--looks black unless in sun--and he has brown eyes. What do you think wouldbe more of the dominant gene if we had a child?

What would be more dominant if we had a baby?

there are several genes in play

lets start wtih eyes.. simply knowing his eye color is a start BUT you also need to know his parents eye color becuase he could be hiding a recessive gene..

assuming he isnt - the kids will ALL have brown eyes.. but if he has a recessive blue gene then the kids have a 50/50 chance of blue or brown eyes...

and so on for all genetics

anyhow so in truth NOT only god.. but anyone with a knowledge of genetics can predict...

one thing though - get married before you start pumping out the kids.. and stop after 1 kid - the world is plenty crowded of people already

I think brunette genes are dominant, hence the rarity of natural blondes.

What would be more dominant if we had a baby?

It is not one gene that determines hair color, or skin tone or MOST physical features for that matter. Is a combination of many many genes with additive effects that drive phenotypes in one direction (taller or darker for example) or shorter (shorter or lighter, etc).

chances are his genes will be more dominant, especially since you have blue eyes. However, we all know families where this is not the case.

What would be more dominant if we had a baby?

Well, I would tell you that it's more likely that any offspring would have dark hair and eyes, BUT my sis-in-law (brown hair, hazel eyes) married a man whose family is from Mexico (he has black hair and brown eyes).

Their oldest daughter has reddish-brown hair and blue eyes! My husband and his Mom have blue eyes, (and actually, my BIL's brother also has blue eyes) so those somehow came through!

Biology is an interesting thing. In high school, we made these probability charts for rabbits and the resulting colors, and it still doesn't matter when you factor in chance and genetics!

What would be more dominant if we had a baby?

Well, chances are best that the baby would look more like your boyfriend, because most of the time darker traits win out, but you child has a good chance of having dark brown hair, light skin, and brown eyes. There are calculators on the web to find out the chances of eye color...

What would be more dominant if we had a baby?

Baby would most likely have medium/light color skin, auburn hair, and brown eyes.

What would be more dominant if we had a baby?

biologically, the dark hair and dark eyes genes are dominant...of course this does not aways happen. my dad has the dark hair and i have light hair...you just have to wait

What would be more dominant if we had a baby?

Brown is the dominate gene. Both sets of parents would have to have the blue eyes/blond hair gene some where in their family line to out beat the brown gene. If there's no history of anything other than the brown eye/hair gene in each side of the family, that is the only out come. That's why you'll never see a naturally Blondie haired blue eyed Asian person. I know a couple who bothe had brown hair/Brown eyes and had 2 Blond hair/Blue eye children. So you never know how they'll turn out!
