How do i get rid of fleas?

My new apartment is infested with fleas. Pest control has came out and sprayed but it's not working. I feel itchy all the time and I feel them in my hair! My friends with pets say fleas can not infest humans and can't like in their hair. Is that true? Petsmart tell me I can not wash my hair with flea shampoo. What can i do??

How do i get rid of fleas?

No they don't live in our hair. They can jump in from time to time but they don't like our hair tecture or temp therefore they will jump back off shortly onto an animal. Did you ask the pest control people to treat for fleas as well? If you don't ask then they don't treat for it on normal inspections. You may need to ask them specifically to treat for fleas. Also if there are any pets in your house make sure they are on a good flea prevention like frontline or advantix. You can also buy lots of good working products from your vet for treating your house and furniture, i may be alittle expensive but that is because its the only products that work.

How do i get rid of fleas?

No, fleas do not infest humans. They will bite us, but our body temperature is not warm enough to their liking so they don't stick around and so they inhabit dogs and cats and other warmer fur-bearing animals instead. Call the pest control company to come out and treat again. Most offer a guarantee for a period of time if their first treatment did not solve the problem.

I guarantee they are not living in your hair. Even if you had one, regular shampoo and water would kill it.

Fleas can get transportation by ANYTHING. Bomb your house with a flea bomb. Or you can buy frontline from a petstore or a vet. Frontline will work great. It will get rid of the fleas in 1 hour and you won't see 1 flea on your pets. It lasts for one month and then, you get another drop and put it on your pets. It works great. Ask for some at a petstore or from a vet. Good luck!

Unfortunately my family went through this a couple months ago. You do not have fleas in your hair, but you probably do have them on your bedding. Wash your bedding and cloths in hot water and Borax. Also, sprinkle Borax on your carpets, sweep in, and vacuum up the next day.

But before you use anything - HAVE YOUR PETS TESTED FOR ALLERGIES!!! we used frontline, advantix, harts and found that the dog and one cat were highly allergic. The cat became ill and both suffered chemical burns on their little bodies.

Fleas are hardy, and it took almost 6 weeks before we could fully get rid of them. It doesnt help we live in a rural area - so everytime the dog went out, they got back on him. We'd pick fleas off before he came back into the house.

We ended up giving our bood weekly baths with flea shampoo. Definitly invest in a good flea shampoo and use the comb. We settled on Advantage.

Good luck.

It's completely untrue that fleas infest on humans. They are only attracted to animals. Not sure why, but they don't like humans. If you feel them in your hair, you're just paranoid. It's probably just all in your head.

Hope you get rid of them fast. And be sure to contact your landlord. If your apartment had a flea infestation before you moved in, then it is his responsibilty to take care of the problem, not yours. Good luck!
